Start Karting at ESKC

Classes explained

We currently hold a Sprint Club Championship, Scottish Pro Kart Champiosnhip and Scottish Supermoto Crail Challenge every month, while hosting one round of the MSA Scottish Super Series each year!

We run classes; Bambino, Cadets, Mini-Max, Junior Max, Senior Max and Gearbox. We do need a minimum of drivers on the grid to run that particular class!

If you are new to karting, we hope the information below is helpful to you!

Bambino, ages 6-8

You can start practising from the age of 6 in Bambino karts, and begin racing at 7 years old.

Cadet, ages 8-13

You can begin racing in the Cadet class from the age of 8 years old, until the end of the year of your 13th birthday! Both classes of Cadet karts; IAME Cadet & Honda Cadet may race together. Both have a centrifugal clutch and recoil start cord. IAME Cadets can race in the MSA British Championship and Honda Cadets in the ABKC National Championship with their top speed reaching around 50mph.

Mini-Max, ages 12 - 15

You can begin racing in Rotax Mini Max in the year of your 12th birthday. This class uses a 125cc 2-stroke TAG engine, and by taking the restrictor off a Mini Max engine, it becomes a Junior Max!

Junior Max, ages 13-17

You can begin racing in Rotax Junior Max from the age of 13. This class uses a 125cc 2-stroke TAG engine, and by taking the restrictor off a Junior Max engine, it becomes a Senior Max!

Senior Max, age 16+

You can begin racing in Rotax Senior Max in the year of your 16th birthday. This class is a 125cc 2-stroke engine and can reach up to 85mph! This engine can be restricted to a degree to make it Mini Max or Junior Max. This class has a higher weight variant called Rotax 177 for the heavier driver.

KZ2 Gearbox

This class offers the highest speed, reaching up to 120mph! The 125cc KZ2 gearbox engine has 6 gears, a sequential gearbox, with lever and clutch mounted beside the steering wheel.
